Our own knowledge base comes first
DIAS contains an editorial knowledge base with currently 229 entries on the questions that are actually asked in everyday care: prophylaxis, wound care, nutrition and fluids, mobilisation, hygiene, emergencies, medication, pain and palliative care, dementia and working with families, documentation and law, as well as care levels (Pflegegrade) and long-term care insurance benefits.
A question is searched there first. If an entry matches, the answer comes from our own content – traceable, free of charge and without the question ever leaving the organisation.
External only when necessary
If the knowledge base finds nothing suitable, the question can be passed on to an external AI service. Three rules apply, which the software enforces rather than merely promises:
- No patient data. Before anything is sent, the question is checked for personal references: names of people in care, insurance numbers, dates of birth, phone numbers, e-mail addresses. If anything is found, the question does not go out – and the user is told why.
- Only professional knowledge in the prompt. What is transmitted is the general professional question, not a person's care context.
- Limited volume. Each account can make 30 external requests per day. After that, the knowledge base keeps answering, just without external queries.
Every request is logged: time, account, role, whether it went external and – if not – why. The question text itself is deliberately not stored in full.
Who may use the feature
The AI query is restricted to the roles it is intended for. Other roles can see the knowledge base but cannot trigger external requests.
What the answer is not
An AI answer does not replace a medical or professional nursing assessment of the individual case. It is labelled as such, and the assessment of the specific situation remains with the qualified nurse.
