Frequently asked questions

The most important answers about DIAS, the Care-Assistant app and the sensors.

How much does the app cost?

For families, Care-Assistant costs €9.50 per month. For companies €35 per month or a one-off €450 for use on the company PC. The first month is free.

Can I try it without obligation?

Yes. You start with one month free – with no obligation for families. Simply get started via the “Try for free” button, on desktop or in the mobile app.

Can I cancel the app at any time?

Yes, the subscription can be cancelled at any time – informally by email to kuendigung@care-assistant.com. Details can be found in the Terms and conditions.

Who is DIAS suitable for?

For family carers, for individual care workers and for home care services and residential care facilities. The features adapt to your needs based on roles.

Can I message the home care service in the app?

Yes. In the chat, relatives, the patient, care workers and the care service’s administration write to each other directly – one-to-one or as a group, on the computer and on the phone. Contact runs via your personal participant ID instead of private mobile numbers, and only people involved with the patient can write. Find out more under Features.

Can the care worker document directly at the client’s home?

Yes. In the mobile app, the care worker signs off medication administration (“given” or “not given” with a reason), writes the care report – also by dictation, which is transcribed on our own server – and records arrival and departure for each visit. The draft report stays on the device until it is saved. After the visit, the client – or a representative – confirms the services provided with their signature on the phone; the record appears in the proof of service for the long-term care insurance fund. Wounds are also documented with photo, measurements and progress – the photos stay in the app and not in the phone’s gallery. Find out more under Features.

How does the app help with the care level?

All care times, vital signs, medication and events are documented automatically and made available as evidence for the Medical Service (MD). The integrated care level calculator works according to the guidelines of the Medical Service, § 18 SGB XI, and exports the documents as a PDF.

Does the app run on Windows and Apple?

Yes. You decide whether to use the solution online in the browser, on your company PC or on a laptop (Windows or Apple). There is also the mobile app for when you are on the move; there you can keep documenting even without a network – entries are sent automatically as soon as there is reception again.

Do I really need the sensors?

No. The app works on its own. The optional DIAS sensors (motion, falls, indoor climate, door/window, smoke detector) provide additional safety and automatic readings. You can find all sensors in the shop.

What about data protection?

Data storage is GDPR-compliant, SSL-encrypted throughout, with audit logs and backup strategies. Details can be found in our privacy policy.

Do you help with the setup?

Yes. On request, I will import your master data into the system so that you are not burdened with extra work. I am also happy to present DIAS in a personal presentation – online or on site.

Is it MDK or Medical Service?

The correct term is Medical Service (MD). Until 2021 it was called MDK – Medizinischer Dienst der Krankenversicherung (Medical Service of the Health Insurance Funds) – and was attached to the health insurance funds. Since the MDK Reform Act, the Medical Services have been independent public-law bodies. The task is the same: they carry out assessments on behalf of the long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse) under § 18 SGB XI. If you search for MDK, you mean the MD. More details under Preparing for the assessment.
